Saturday next sees Shelbourne travel west to play Mervue United at Terryland Park. Kick-off is scheduled for 7pm.

Both sides failed to pick up points from their games last week-end – Shelbourne going down 2-1 to league leaders Derry City after going a goal up and Mervue losing out 2-0 to bottom team Salthill Devon.

Regardless of their relative league positions or the results from last week, Shelbourne manager Alan Mathews is not leaving anything to chance and has put the full squad through a number of full training sessions during the week.

For a change, Shelbourne have only one player on the injury list this week. Mark Hughes and Paul Shiels have returned to fitness, leaving Eric Foley as the only one injured – and still a few weeks away from fitness.

Gareth Whelan misses out through suspension, having accumulated four yellow cards.
