Shels start well with draw against cup winners - by Fintan Cassidy
Shelbourne began their 2008 pre-season preparations with a very credible scoreless draw against Premier Division and 2007 FAI Cup winners outfit Cork City, in Beggsboro's FC ground in Cabra.
Both sides fielded full strenght sides in the first half, but it was the Dubliners who impressed most, with their defence marshalled superbly by man of the match home captain Damien Brennan, containing the impressive front line of the visitors paraded new signings Georgie O'Callaghan returned from England and last season's top scorer and FAI eircom League player of the year David Mooney.
Shels and the Cork City both wrung many changes in the second half, but the home team must have been happiest come the final whistle, having held the Cup champions to a draw.
