Meenan was released by Shelbourne in May 2009 for personal reasons and by mutual consent. Having only played half a season with College, Darren accepted Dermot Keely's invitation and signed for Shelbourne in February 2009.

In the July 2008 transfer window, Darren joined UCD, after playing with 'the Mons' for a season and a half.

Darren has dual nationality from a football point of view - he is qualified to play for either the Republic or for Northern Ireland.

Joined Monaghan United in March 2007.

Signed by the Donegal club Finn Harps from St. Joseph's Boys in February 2006.
